Bill Allen was born and reared in Massachusetts. He graduated from Boston College High School in 1956. After spending three years in the Marine Corps, he returned to school and graduated from Boston College in 1965. Bill started his career in auditing with Peat, Marwick (now KPMG) in Greensboro, North Carolina. From there he joined Touche Ross (now Deloitte & Touche) and transferred to their executive office in New York to work on the National Accounting and Auditing Staff. Bill has worked with and for local firms since 1976. He spent several years as Audit Manager for a large local firm in Miami, Florida. Then he founded Accounting Firms Associated, Inc., (now CPAmerica), an international association of local CPA firms. He directed AFAi from 1978 to 1982. During that time he led over 100 Peer Reviews. Bill has taught auditing at Florida International University and the University of Miami. He has also written several publications and been a featured speaker at many conventions and meetings. He is an AICPA top discussion leader and has received Discussion Leader Awards from the AICPA and the states of Florida, Wyoming, and Illinois. Bill is currently the President of Making Auditors Proficient (MAP). MAP provides training, technical assistance, and other services to local CPA firms throughout the United States. Their specialty and what gives them a unique approach to the various services, including peer reviews, is their proficiency in audit efficiency and effectiveness using a risk-based approach. Bill is a Sole Practitioner in The Villages, Florida. His PCPS Peer Reviews have always resulted in an unqualified report with no letter of comments. Through this practice Bill has provided peer reviews to 100's of firms throughout the United States. Bill is a recognized expert in Single Audits (Government and Non Profit). He was the Audit Partner for the City of Los Angeles audit from 1985 to 1991. He was also a Partner in a Local Firm with responsibility for over 50 small and medium sized government audits. Bill currently provides planning and review services on many of these types of audits for CPA firms. Bill is currently a member of the FICPA Peer Review Committee and is a past member of the AICPA Government Accounting and Auditing Committee and FICPA Accounting and Auditing Committee. He is also a contributing editor to the “Single Audit Information Service” published by Thompson Publishing Group. He is also the Chair of the Audit Committee for the Hospice of Lake/Sumter County and Cornerstone. For fun, Bill likes to golf, go to movies, read mysteries, and play Jeopardy.
